The Christmas Parade of Lights is how Cañon City kicks off the holiday season. Held on a Saturday evening in early December, the parade transforms Main Street into a glowing procession of lighted floats, marching groups, classic cars, and community organizations. Thousands of residents line the historic downtown corridor to watch, and the atmosphere is exactly what you picture when you think of a real small-town Christmas.
Organized by the Royal Gorge Chamber Alliance, the parade draws participation from businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community groups across Fremont County. It is one of the most well-attended events of the year.
Lighted Parade on Main Street
Dozens of illuminated floats, marching bands, community groups, and classic cars parade through historic downtown Cañon City as families line the sidewalks.
Holiday Downtown Experience
Downtown shops stay open late for holiday shopping. Hot cocoa, seasonal treats, and holiday cheer throughout the historic Main Street district before and after the parade.
The Christmas Parade of Lights is the kind of event that makes people fall in love with small-town life. There is no reserved seating, no VIP section, no corporate sponsorship wall blocking your view. You show up, you stand on Main Street with your neighbors, and you watch your community celebrate. That is the Cañon City difference.
