Every May, Cañon City comes alive with the sounds of thousands of student musicians competing in one of Colorado's most beloved traditions. The Music & Blossom Festival dates back to the 1860s, making it one of the oldest community celebrations in the state. What started as a harvest celebration has grown into a nationally recognized music competition that draws middle school, junior high, and high school performers from across the country.
This is not a small-town fair. This is a multi-day celebration with a two-hour parade, jazz band competitions, concert choir performances, a 5K run, a craft fair with over 100 vendors, live concerts, and a full carnival. It is the single biggest event of the year in Cañon City.
